My final day

For my final day I arrived in at 10.00am and put my belongings away. I helped to set up the main hall by taking out all the toys for the children. I went into the artroom and helped to empty the ball pit by putting the balls in the nets for them to be washed.

Four of the workers, myself and another college student went out to the Coffee Shop in the Leisure Centre with 8 of the children. We stayed there for a while and the children had a little break.
After we went back to the pre-school and stayed in the main hall for a while. The children then got ready in their rooms for dinner.

At 12 o ' clock I went for lunch in the canteen with my friend. We finished and went back to work for 1 o ' clock. 

At 1 I helped to get the children in the pre-school ready to go home. I gave all the staff a card and a box of chocolates as a thank you present and they were delighted. By half 1 all the children had gone home and I talked to the staff for a few minutes.

At 2 o ' clock I went over to the senior citizens area. Everyone was firstly in the main room. After a while a few of us went to the other smaller room and everyone relaxed. I talked to everyone and we listened to music to relax. 

At 3 o ' clock we made tea or coffee for them and gave everyone a slice of rhubarb tart as one of the workers & a few of the senior citizens had baked it earlier that morning.

At half 3 I gave the staff a card and a box of chocolates and they were very thankful. I said goodbye to everyone and left for my bus.



Overall I have had an amazing experience and loved each week of it. I am sad to leave as I will miss everyone after getting to know them and I am glad I got to have a chance at doing a  work experience placement there.

Day 5

I arrived at 10.00am and helped to set up the room with all the toys. We firstly stayed in the hall for a while. 3 of the workers and 5 of the children left to go to the coffee shop at the Leisure Centre and 2 of the workers and I stayed with 4 of the children. 

We firstly went to the art room and 2 of the children coloured and another 2 went in the ball pool for a while.

After we went to the classroom with the four of them. I stayed with one of them and did a few learning games with her. For example, I would pick up an object and ask her what it was.

At 12 o' clock I went for lunch with my friend in the canteen. 

I went back to the pre-school at 1 and helped all the children to get ready to go home.

At 2 o' clock I went over to the senior citizens. We firstly stayed in the main room with all the seniors and relaxed.

After one of the workers and I went on a small walk with 5 of the seniors. When we came back we went to a smaller room with them. I helped the worker to paint a few of their nails and the worker gave some of them facials. We went back to the main room and gave them tea/coffee and a biscuit.

I finished at 3.30pm.

Day 4

I got the bus in this time and arrived in the pre-school at 9.50am. I left my stuff in the office and started to take out all the toys for the children and left them in the main hall. The children all started to arrive at around 10.I firstly helped to get some of the children's coats off. We decided to go to the coffee shop at the Leisure Centre so at around 10.45am me and 4 of the staff brought 8 of the children out for a small lunch.

We came back at around 11.30 and we put away all the coats and bags. The children then got ready for dinner after staying in the main hall for a while.At 12 I went for lunch with my friend in the canteen and we were finished lunch at 1 o' clock.

I went back the pre-school and got all the children ready to go home. Some got collected and others went on a mini bus or taxi.

At 2 o' clock I went over to the senior citizens area and was firstly in the main big room with everyone. A few of the workers and I brought 4 or 5 of the senior citizens to another small kitchen area. In the morning they had baked two chocolate heart shaped cakes for one of the senior citizens birthdays in the kitchen area we decorated it. We decorated the cakes with cream and chocolate. After we went back to the main room with everyone and sang happy birthday. Everyone had a slice of cake and a hot drink. For the rest of the day we stayed in the main room and relaxed.

Day 3

I arrived at the pre-school at half 9 and firstly got to read a file about Occupational Therapy until 10. At 10 we set up all the toys and the children started to arrive.

3 workers & I brought 8 of the children to the Coffee Shop in the Leisure Centre for a small lunch for around 40 minutes.

When we got back to the pre-school they stayed in the main hall for a few minutes then got them ready for their dinner.

At 12 I went to the canteen for lunch with my friend until 1.

After lunch I went back to the pre-school and all the children came to the main hall where we got them all ready to go home.

At 2 I went over to the senior citizens. A few of us decorated flapjacks with chocolate. After we went to the hall and watched a dance video for a few minutes. We then went back to the room and I helped around for the rest of the day.

Day 2

I arrived a few minutes early and talked to the staff until the parents dropped off their children, the taxi and the bus had arrived.
When the children arrived we were in the main hall for a few minutes then I just helped around and played with the children.
Two of the staff and I decided to take 6 of the children to the coffee shop in the leisure centre for lunch. We each had a buggy and one child walking holding onto it.
When we came back to the pre-school we went back to the classroom and the workers got the children's dinners ready.
At 12.00pm I went to the canteen with my friend for lunch for an hour.
When I got back to the pre-school I helped the children get ready to go home and they all got collected or dropped home.
At 2 o' clock I went to the senior citizens.
One of the workers and myself decided to take 4 of the senior citizens to the coachhouse which is another open coffee shop.
We stayed there for a while and all had a hot drink and a snack.
After we walked back and I helped around for the rest of the day.
I enjoyed the day as we got to bring the children and senior citizens out!

3rd Work Exp

Since it was my first day of my 3rd work experience on Wednesday the 10th of April, I came in early with my auntie for her to show me around and the different parts of Stewart's.
We arrived in at around 9 and we first went to the pre-school where I was starting off in the morning. A bus goes around to the children's houses to collect them so I went with one of the teachers to collect all the children.
When we arrived back to the pre-school all the other children had arrived aswel. We stayed in the main area for a few minutes then we all split up into the different classrooms. I was firstly in room 1 and I was helping around with the children. I then went to room 2 where there was only a few children. In this classroom we used games to teach the children things.
I met up with my friend and we went to the staff canteen for lunch. Lunch was from 12-1.
After lunch I went back to the pre-school to help get the children ready to go home and they had all left by half 1.
At 2 o' clock my auntie brought me over to the area for the senior citizens. I went to one of the rooms and helped out with all the senior citizens.
They had baked buns the day before so we all decorated them for their tea and I helped around for the rest of the day. I finished at half 3 and went to get the bus home.

I enjoyed the day a lot as it was a different experience and I am looking forward to next week already! :)

The Last Day of Scoil Mochua

I couldn't believe the last day had finally arrived! The 8 weeks had flown by and I enjoyed every single day :) I was really sad to be leaving but happy I got to experience it. It is still hard to believe that the work experience is over!

I started of the day in room 14 and I firstly helped around with the class. After, I went to each class to give out a battery recycling box , a basket for recycling and a poster with information on it for the class. For the rest of the time before break I just helped around the class with the students.

After little break I was in room 16. The class were doing maths and I helped around as they were doing symmetry. The teacher left early and I was minding the class up until lunch.

During lunch my friend and I went to each class to say goodbye to the students and the teachers.

After big lunch I was in room 6 again and we went to the small hall for p.e :) we played duck duck goose and the children loved it. For the last hour I was in room 24 , I helped around and observed the lesson. 

At the end of the day I thanked Ms.Murphy for the opportunity of the work experience and gave her a card & a box of chocolates.
